Swindon Food Bank
The Food Bank is a ground-breaking concept designed to help individuals and families in crisis by providing free emergency food until the
appropriate agencies are in a position to assist.Tinned and dried food is collected from the public at supermarkets, churches, schools and other local groups and "banked" in a warehouse.
Food is then given to people in crisis as a result of referrals from registered care professionals such as Social Services, Health Visitors, and other carers working in the front line.
Give The Lad A Chance On May 3rd 2000 12 year old Alfred 'Podge' Page was turned into a human torch. Drenched in petrol and set alight, he suffered third degree burns over 60% of his body. Rushed to hospital he was given only a 40% chance of survival.
